Good day, good brother. I am excited to be back with you to round out week four of our series Overcoming Lust. And last week, week three, we discussed uh the ways, the primary ways the enemy comes at us, and that's through lust of the flesh, uh lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. You know, I'm sitting here in my backyard once again, and one of my favorite times of day is the evening. I love when uh watching the sun go down. I believe sunsets in North Carolina are absolutely beautiful. The Bible even speaks and tells us, don't let the sun go down on your wrath. And I was thinking about even a time when uh they had sundown towns where you didn't want to be caught in a specific town when the sun goes down because there were uh threats of persecution, execution. Uh, people were coming after you simply because of the color of your skin. Well, there's uh a position. There is a time in the Bible that I believe discusses when we should let the sun go down. And I believe we should allow the sun to go down on our lust. My brother, it's time for the sun to go down on lust. Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, that pride of life. Temptation is simply uh something that will overcome or that tries to overcome and replace the Holy Spirit's role in your life. Uh, something that says that's willing to trade your godliness for destruction. And brother, it's time to let the sun go down on lust. It is absolutely time. You know, I came to a place where I got tired of trying to look at girls' butts. I got tired of looking at porn. I got tired of having these unclean desires and it ruled my life. I got tired. And I had to pray out and ask God to heal me. You see, flesh is one of those things that's a bit peculiar because some of us may have a spirit of lust, um, but most of us just have a lustful flesh. That's why this the lust of the flesh and the flesh cannot be cast out. It must be crucified. Brother, you have to crucify that flesh every single day. Crucify that lust every single day. I was reading Colossians chapter 3, and I'm gonna read here verse 5, and it tells us to put to death, therefore, what is earthly in you, sexual immorality. It's the first thing that it lists that that Paul is encouraging the church uh to put aside immorality or put to death sexual immorality, crucify sexual immorality, impurity, passions, evil desires, covetedness, which is idolatry. Idolatry is anything that you put over God. Idolatry is anything that you desire more than God, that you put more time, effort, energy more than God. That has become an idol. So Paul is encouraging us, uh encouraging the church to put it aside on account of these wrath of these, the wrath of God is coming. My brother, crucify the flesh. Roman tells us that that when we desire fleshly things, it will lead us to death. And so, brother, is you can't cast out lust or fleshly lust, it can only be crucified. Then Paul tells us, put on in verse 12, then as God's chosen one chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts. Replace love with lust with a compassionate heart, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. There's certain things that you have to replace the lust in your life with. You have to make that trade. You have to crucify it. Crucifixions uh uh uh were one of the worst ways you could die in ancient times. It was a death that was slow through suffering. So, my brother, lust is a daily crucifixion. Yes, it's hard, but you have to make the trade because we've been lustful for long enough, and we cannot go higher in Christ when lust is holding us down. Make the trade. I'm trading righteousness for my lust. So when I want to be lustful, when I want to desire other women, when I want to desire pornography, when I want to desire uh looking at certain images or masturbation or anything, I'm making the trade and say, God, I'm choosing you because I would not allow lust to be a desire or an idol in my life. I'm crucifying my flesh, I'm crucifying the lust in my life so that you can take up residence, that you, Christ Jesus, is my first response. And my brother, when you make that a habit, you'll see how great your life truly becomes, how great your marriage really becomes when you choose righteousness over lust. So, my brother, be encouraged. I pray that this four-week series has blessed you as much as it has me. So, brother, be encouraged. I love you. Enjoy your week, be strong, stand firm.
