A biblical exploration into what it means to be emotionally fit with Joseph Wimbush.
Good morning, brothers. Welcome back to our week two of our men's devotional. I'm Brother Joe Wimbush. I'll be covering uh continue to cover my segment, which is emotional fitness. Now, last week, last week I covered negative emotions, which took a little longer than what I expected. Amen. But this week we're gonna shift gears, we're gonna move into the positive emotions, which shouldn't take that long, which I'm hoping it'd be shorter. Amen. Well let's see. So let's jump into it. What are positive emotions? Well, positive emotions are pleasant feelings that enhance well-being, it broadens thinking, and it strengthens social connections. Some common positive emotions are joy, gratitude, hope, uh, compassion, and love. Now, there are three things that will last forever. That is faith, hope, and love. Amen. You'll find that in 1 Corinthians 13 and 13. So you ask, why? Why love? It's because anyone who does not love does not know God, for he is love. That's 1 John 4 and 8. So this morning, we're gonna concentrate on the my most important positive emotion, and that's love. Amen. So it is so so important that we learn how to love. That means to love our family members, which shouldn't be too hard at all. It means to love our co-workers, which sometimes it can be challenging, but to love different race and religion and to love our enemies, now we're talking about some God-type love. Amen. The Lord commanded, thou shalt love thy Lord thy God, with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Again, why we must love our God because he's a jealous God, he is devouring fire. No thing shall be above him, below him, to the left of him, to the right of him, through him. There is no other God besides our God, Jehovah, Yahweh. Amen. Jesus said, Thou shalt love thy Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is is like it. The second is like unto it, to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Amen. Love with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Now, we know from our Christian education class, going over the battlefield of the mind, that our enemy, Satan, is always attacking our mind with distractions and with lies. He is the king of lies, amen. The father of lies. That's why it's so important to stay positive. Positive thoughts are always filled with faith and hope. Our mind processes information and our ability to manage and express our emotions are critical. It's so important that we as Christians, as Christian men, always maintain a positive outlook on life. Our family and our friends, our co-workers, they're always watching us to see if we maintain self-control, especially if something goes wrong. Let's not disappoint them. Let's always maintain our cool and our self-control. Amen. Now things to remember. Things to remember. Set your mind on things above and not on earthly things. That's Colossians 3 and 2. Things will not last on this earth. Everything will rust, rot, decay, your house, your cars, your money, all that is gone. So that's why you must set your mind on things above, heavenly things. What will profit a man if he gained the whole world but lose his soul? Again, that's Mark 8 and 36. Amen. So prepare your mind for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. That is 1 Peter 1 and 13. Be not conformed, you know this one. Be not conform to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12 and 2. Amen. So what do we need? We need the mind of Christ. We need the mind of Christ. We need to live our lives just as Jesus did. Philippians 2 and 5 reads, you must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus did. Amen. Lastly, and now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Think about those things that are excellent and praiseworthy. Amen. Keep your mind and thoughts Christ-like day and night. If you start studying the word, meditating on his word both day and night, you you'll conform, your mind shall be transformed. Amen. Don't let this world steal your joy by all the negativity that's in it. Well, look, that's all I have for today. I hope you got something out of it. I promise you it wouldn't have been it. It's not as long as uh the negative thoughts, but I pray that you will remain positive and the joy of the Lord will follow you throughout your day today. Amen. Have a blessed day, and I'll see y'all next week. God bless you.
